Skilling & Livelihood
Our Skilling and Livelihood programs are fundamentally focused on pre-vocational training and essential life skills to build independence and confidence. We provide preparatory programs that smoothly transition individuals from school life into the demands of the working world, setting a strong foundation for a career.
Crucially, training goes beyond technical abilities to integrate vital essential life skills, including communication, problem-solving, digital literacy, and workplace etiquette, ensuring participants are holistically equipped and confident to thrive in any professional setting or contribute actively to their community.

What is Self-Advocacy?
Since 2013, Seva-in-Action has included Self-Advocacy training as part of its Life Skills curriculum. The initiative is part of SAFI (Self-Advocates Forum of India), a national platform created by PARIVAAR.
Self-Advocacy means empowering people with IDDs to:
-
Speak up for themselves
-
Make their own decisions
-
Ask for help when needed
-
Participate in decisions affecting their lives
-
Support others and advocate for inclusion

SiA’s training also involves parents, teachers, and PwIDDs as mentors and self-advocates, with regular participation in SAFI conventions across India.
